The Philadelphia Story

The Whidbey Playhouse is delighted to announce that it has completed its casting for The Philadelphia Story, directed by Mary Lou Chandler.  The talented and close-knit cast is currently in the midst of rehearsals for this promising turn of the classic 1939 comedy by Philip Barry.

Tara Hizon plays the role of Tracy Lord, the young divorced socialite who is torn between three men on the eve of her second wedding.  Opposite her is Dustin Amundson as Tracy’s confident and mischievous ex-husband Dexter. Playing the role of the cynical reporter Mike Connor is Jim Reynolds, with Rachael Grove as photographer Liz Imbrie and Joel Green as Tracy’s up-from-the-bottom fiancé George Kitteridge.  In the roles of Tracy’s family are Norm Boynton as the irrepressible Uncle Willie, Robert Foster as her conspiratorial brother Sandy, Tamra Sipes as her dignified mother Margaret, Bobby Hammonds as her errant father Seth, and Honour Rische as her laughable sister Dinah.  Rusty Hendrix plays the family servant Phoebe, and Alan Schell rounds out the cast in dual roles as Mac the Night Watchman and Parson Parsons.

Opening night for The Philadelphia Story is January 28th, 2011, with performances running Thursday through Sunday, closing on February 13th.
