About Whidbey Playhouse

Welcome to Whidbey Playhouse!  This is a place for you to have fun!

The Whidbey Playhouse has been presenting live theatre in Oak Harbor for 43 years.  Though we are an amateur community theatre, we strive for excellence and professionalism in all that we choose to do. We promote and nourish community spirit, providing mutual support and encouragement to individuals and other cultural arts groups.

Since our very first production, Madame President in 1966, we have presented over 235 musicals, dramas, comedies, dinner theatre, melodramas, comedies, mysteries youth productions and original reviews. Currently, the Playhouse produces five shows (plays &   musicals) during the regular season (September through June) plus a full youth theatre program with workshops and summer productions.

The Playhouse is continually grateful to the hundreds of people who have contributed their time, enthusiasm, energies, talents and financial support - without these people, we would not exist.  We are indebted to our casts, crews, productions staff, orchestra and audiences, and proud that we are all united by our shared love of the stage.

The Whidbey Playhouse relies on the financial support and active involvement of the community.  The generous support of our membership and donors has allowed us to grow and prosper for 43 years.

Please consider becoming involved!
We are a totally volunteer organization so if you feel the urge to "get out and do something", consider auditioning or volunteering for one of our productions.
There is always a need for set builders, costumers, stagehands, ushers, etc.  On or off the stage, the Whidbey Playhouse is fun!

Season memberships are needed for the continued success of our theatre. When you become a season ticket holder, you will be helping to support an exciting tradition of community theatre on Whidbey Island. Our community theatre could not exist without the past, present, and continued support of our season ticket holders. So we hope that your enjoyment of our productions has been and will continue to be repayment of your faith and support of the Whidbey Playhouse.

The Whidbey Playhouse is governed by a working Board of Directors and has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a nonprofit tax exempt organization under section: 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Playhouse Membership is only $20 individual or $35 family for the year!  We  have various social events throughout the year, often with a program of something or someone of interest to the membership.

Be sure to check out our Events page for the most up-to-date information for this months' activities.

It’s fun and entertaining. We’d love to see you join us!  We are located at 730 SE Midway Blvd in Oak Harbor.  Our phone is 360-679-2237.  Our business hours are 11-3 Tuesdays & Fridays, 11-6 on Wednesdays & Thursdays, 11-3 on Saturdays if there is a show that night.

Auditions are open to everyone (regardless of  experience) and are usually held 45 to 60 days prior to the opening of a show. See the auditions page under Show Information if you are interested.

Season shows run 14 performances for musicals and non-musicals, scheduled usually on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, plus three matinees, usually on Sunday afternoon.

The Whidbey Playhouse is a volunteer-supported 501 c3 non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to providing quality theatrical experiences to people of all ages.
