The
Whidbey Playhouse is pleased to announce that
local actress Sue Riney will be getting back into the habit, both literally
and figuratively, for the final production of the theatre's 2012-2013 season,
"Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class", a musical comedy from Dan
Goggin's Nunsense series, on stage June 14 - 30, 2013.
Riney will appear as Sister Robert Anne, the teacher with a colorful back
story: a Brooklyn-born former child delinquent. In-between such songs as What
Would Elvis Do? and Every Day of the Week is a Saturday, the Sister instructs
her class - the audience - on how to put a show business act together. This
fun-filled audience-participation musical will have the crowd joining in the
singing and question-and-answer sessions, demonstrating how easy it can be
(in the right circumstance) to be a part of the entertainment process.
Performing
with Sister Robert Anne on stage will be her accompanist and "straight
woman", Sister Amnesia (Gaye Litka), along with Sister Mary Melody on
bass (Pat Felger), Father Vic (Vic Veltkamp) on woodwinds, and Father Jeff
(Jeff Stiern) on drums. Father Diego Sarducci (J.R. Russell) will entertain
as the "warm up act" each evening.
Sue
Riney appeared as Sister Robert Anne in Nunsense at the Playhouse in 2009, in
Nuncrackers in 2002, and as Sister Hubert in Nunsense in 1994. She's also
portrayed Sister Robert Anne in Nunsense 2: The Second Coming at the
Anacortes Community Theatre.
Tickets
for Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class go on sale in May with all seats $18.
