Cash on Delivery at Whidbey Playhouse

“Cash on Delivery”, a seriously silly play by Michael Cooney, opens April 9, 2010 with loads of laughs.  Co-directors Melissa Bridges and Bob Hendrix direct this fast-paced British farce.  When Eric (played by Kent Peckenpaugh) began cashing his former lodger’s checks from social services, he was just trying to get through a spot of unemployment.  But it was so easy that he kept applying for more and more benefits for more and more nonexistent lodgers.  Now he wants to quit, but when he begins by killing off an imaginary tenant, his real lodger, Norman (played by Rand Rogers) gets pulled into the plot.  Eric’s Uncle George (played by Allen Young) knows what is going on but Eric’s wife Linda (Dulcey Whyte) only knows that something’s gone very wrong.  The arrivals of Department of Social Security Inspector Mr. Jenkins (Fred Conley), bereavement counselor Sally Chessington (Joyce Napoletano), marriage guidance counselor Doctor Chapman (Thomas Clatterbuck), an undertaker Mr. Forbright (Sean Hall),  DDS inspector Ms. Cowper (Janis Powell), and Norman’s fiancée Brenda (played by Sharayah Lovell), multiply the madness.  Who’s who?  What’s what?  Who’s dead? Who’s alive? And why’s that man wearing a maternity dress?  Join us for the fun.
