Poseidon Players
Black Box Theater at Whidbey Playhouse

Join the Poseidon Players, Whidbey Playhouse’s Black Box Theatre Troupe, for an exciting journey into bold, intimate, and creative storytelling. Open to all and free to participate, this troupe offers performers of every experience level the chance to explore acting, experiment with new works, and perform in a dynamic showcase. Whether you’re brand new to the stage or a seasoned actor, the Poseidon Players provide a supportive space to take risks, grow your craft, and connect with fellow theatre enthusiasts.
What We Offer:
Poseidon Players provides a supportive, creative environment for local actors, directors, and playwrights to hone their craft. We select short (under 30 minutes), one-act plays or skits that are rehearsed and performed at the end of each session—and everyone gets a part! No experience is necessary, just a passion for theatre!

Our Style:
Performances follow a Black Box style, with minimal props and no costuming. Actors typically wear simple black attire, keeping the focus on the performances and the stories being told.

Rehearsals & Performances:
Rehearsals are held 4–6 times per session, depending on the script and the needs of the director and actors. Before the public performance, there’s a final “dress rehearsal” where a small group of peers offers constructive feedback to help you grow as a performer.
