Black Box Theater at Whidbey Playhouse

Attention Actors/Directors/Playwrights!

Have you ever felt the urge to perform on stage?

To direct a theatre production?

To see your original play or skit performed on stage? ·

Do you miss those high school plays you were in?

If so, we offer the program for you...Poseidon Players!

Poseidon Players offers a supportive environment for local playwrights, directors, and actors to develop their skills. Short (<30 minute), one act, plays or skits are selected, rehearsed, and performed at the end of each session. These performances are open to the public. No experience is needed and everybody gets a part.

The plays/skits are performed using no costuming and few props (Black Box style). Typically, the actors simply wear black.

Rehearsals are generally 4-6 times per session depending on the script, actors, and director. One “dress rehearsal” before the public performances offers a small group of directors/actors the opportunity to evaluate the plays/skits and provide candid criticism of your performance to help you grow as an actor.

Sessions run 2-3 times per year, and this program has no cost. If you wish to offer an original script for consideration, please deliver the script to the Whidbey Playhouse office. The first meeting of the Poseidon Player Fall session will be on Saturday, October 15. Time and location to be determined. For additional information or to be placed on the Poseidon Player contact list, contact Whidbey Playhouse (360) 679-2237 or Dave Frazer (360) 675-9840 (dfrazer426@gmail.com).
